EZ Bombs Raises $25M Series A From CAVU After TikTok Shop Launch Takes Seasoning Bombs Into 8,000+ Stores
EZ Bombs, the Orlando-based maker of shelf-stable “seasoning bombs” for Mexican dishes such as birria and pozole, has raised a $25 million Series A led by CAVU Consumer Partners. The company announced the round on 14 October, after growing from no retail doors at the start of 2025 to more than 8,000 retail locations today.
The deal gives one of the clearest recent examples of a food brand using social commerce as its launch channel and then moving quickly into national grocery and club distribution.
From TikTok Shop to 8,000 doors
EZ Bombs says it was the number one food and beverage product on TikTok Shop in 2025, with more than 1 million units sold and the largest live show sales on the platform. It built much of its early business through TikTok Shop and Amazon before moving into retail. Its products are now sold at Walmart, Target, Costco, Kroger, Albertsons, Publix and other retailers, as well as online.
The product format suited short-form video. Each pre-portioned ball packages the chiles, spices and aromatics that form the flavour base for a specific dish, and dissolves when dropped into a slow cooker, pressure cooker or pot. The company says on-camera demonstrations by co-founder Tina Castaneda showed in seconds what would otherwise take more than a dozen ingredients and hours of preparation.
Birria came first. The range now includes separate bombs for pozole, tinga, chicken chipotle and chile colorado, with more Mexican seasoning bombs planned for retail later this year. The company cites Datassential data showing birria’s presence on U.S. restaurant menus grew 350% between 2021 and 2026.
A family-founded brand
EZ Bombs was founded in late 2023 by Brandon Castaneda, now chief executive, his mother Tina Castaneda and his sister Nichole Munoz. The bombs are based on Tina’s recipes, Nichole leads social strategy, and Tina is the face of the brand.
“We took her recipes, packed the whole flavor base into one Bomb, and showed people how easy it could be,” Brandon Castaneda said. “Partnering with CAVU lets us bring that to a lot more families, along with a lot more of the dishes we grew up on.”
What the money is for
The financing will support wider distribution, additional manufacturing capacity, new products and executive hires. CAVU principal Brandon Neumann joins the EZ Bombs board, and CAVU’s in-house value-add team, UNCOMMON, will work with the company on retail expansion, brand development, digital commerce and building out the executive team.
“Most seasonings are sold as ingredients while EZ Bombs starts with the meal,” Neumann said. He added that the speed with which the brand moved “from digital demand into national retail – while remaining disciplined and profitable from day one” was one of the things that drew CAVU’s attention. CAVU, founded in 2015 by Rohan Oza and Brett Thomas, has previously backed brands including Poppi, Bai, Vital Proteins, Once Upon a Farm and Good Culture.
Why it matters for food founders
For early-stage food brands, the EZ Bombs path shows how TikTok Shop and live selling are being used as a test market. Sales data and repeat buying on the platform can give retail buyers evidence of demand before a brand has a store track record.
The harder part comes next. Supplying more than 8,000 doors across grocery, mass and club channels needs reliable co-manufacturing or owned capacity, consistent spice and chile sourcing, and the working capital to support promotions and slotting. The company’s plan to spend part of the round on manufacturing capacity and executive hires suggests it sees operations, not demand, as the next constraint.
The round also reflects investor interest in convenience formats that simplify scratch cooking rather than replacing it with ready meals, particularly in Mexican and Hispanic cuisine, where the company points to strong growth in menu demand.
