FDA Final Rule Opens 139 Standardized Foods to Salt Substitutes, Giving Manufacturers New Room for Sodium Reduction
FDA has finalised a rule letting manufacturers use safe and suitable salt substitutes in 139 standards of identity, from cheese and bread to canned tuna and tomato products, effective 14 December 2026, with dairy objections due 12 November.
